My mate got it as a promo from the record shop he works at. They did a BBC Breezeblock set that used most of the same tracks. I don't know what the Gimix is - but you got me curious! This EP blew my mind when it came out - 1997 was a long way before the mashup aesthetic had blown up and the cheesy flute sample slapped against screaming guitars was a joy. Every track is a killer on that EP but i personally love the chorus from "Rock City" - "cocaine, limousines, woooo, that's rock city!" Awesome, I'm getting all misty eyed and retrospective. But if you want rare - try and get a hold of the mix tape they did pre-release of "Since I Left You" - it has most of the trax on the album with heaps of uncleared samples. My fave - "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" mixed with the flute line from "Jayou". Sweet. Great blog jeej! Oh man,

The beef was between the Jamiroquai fans at the Sydney show and The Avalanches, although up until receiving Mentos to the face, the guys had no problems with those fans! Jamiroquai himself must've liked The Avalanches for them to be there in the first place. Sadly mate, the reason Frontier Pyschiatrist had such great scratching (and maybe samples) was because of DJ Dexta, who left the group some time ago. I understand the new album uses lots of old rock samples and even calypso samples, so it could be crap... or amazing, we shall see. Ah no, don’t misunderstand.
