From the early nineties, I remember meeting Drew Muirhead, the early DMC DJ maestro from Australia. He was great! What is he doing nowadays?

[...] This doesn’t exactly get much press here in Australia, but excuses aside, I forgot bout the DMC World DJ Finals that happened in September… doh. Anyway, I wont bore you with the extensive details - if you have no idea what I am talking about then check out this entry I wrote a while back, should explain all. [...]

Craze won three times in a row.

Yeah, I've got Scratch, it's a good documentary.

I really like Dexta (from Avalanches) set from 2000, he came 2nd as it his set wasn't quite as tight as Craze's, but it was really original. Used allsorts of samples including The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix.

Plenty of props for the DMC guys! That shit is really hard to do, on many levels. The prep they put into their 6 minute set is stupid - it verges on OCD levels! Follow that up with the competetive nature of hip hop and you've got a high pressure situation on the cards! If you guys are interested in this and want some follow up (you've probably seen it anyways!) I'd suggest watching 'Scratch' by Doug Prey which unearths some of the secrets of it all.
DJ Craze (who has won DMC at least TWICE!) has said that he won't compete as the pressure is two much now - Q-Bert is the same. They now just try to better themseleves for themselves.

My favourite has to be a routine that Roc Raider did in 89? Plenty of body spins and bustin' cuts - awesome stuff!
